Harrisville State Park features a campground and day-use area nestled in a stand of pine and cedar trees along the sandy shores of Lake Huron. The park is within walking distance of the resort town of Harrisville. Established in 1921, it is one of Michigan's oldest state parks. The original park area consisted of six acres, much smaller than the current 107-acre size. It also offers a picnic area & pavilion, two mile trek hiking trail as well as non-groomed cross-country trails, and a metal detecting area.

Hoist Lake Foot Travel Area [Hiking & Cross Country Skiing]. Hoist Lakes Foot Travel Area encompases 10,600 acres of Manistee-Huron National Forest that has been reserved for foot travel. Two connecting loops of wide trails create a 20 mile figure-8 shaped system through the area. Within reach are seven lakes, beaver ponds, meadows, marshes, and second growth forests of aspen, pine, and northern hardwoods. The terrain is hilly enough to be interesting, but not difficult to walk. The trails are well marked with blue diamonds and numbered markers. Fact Sheet

Jewell Lake National Forest Campground [Campground & RV Park], Forest Service Road 4601, Huron-Manistee National Forests, Barton City, MI 48705, Phone: (989) 739-0728. Jewell Lake Campground is located on the east side of Jewell Lake. This lake offers a wide variety of fishing and boating opportunities. A one mile hiking trail is located off the beach area and a snowmobile trail runs through the area during the winter months. Jewell Lake Campground is ideal for the nature lover who enjoys wildlife and privacy. 32 campsites.

Phone number indicated above is for the Grayling Management Unit. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. 20 sites for small trailer use, 11 will accommodate 40-ft vehicle/trailer. Small beach and picnic area on McCollum Lake with good canoeing and pan fishing. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump.

Negwegon State Park is a rustic, undeveloped area open for hunting and hiking. The terrain is a mixture of low land areas with small ridges, to mature pine forest, some hardwoods and aspen forest, and some pockets of open meadows mixed in. A beautiful undeveloped sandy beach on Lake Huron. Please use caution when visiting as the roads into the park are often so sandy that a four-wheel drive vehicle is needed. Reid Lake Foot Travel Area [Hiking & Cross-country Skiing], Hwy M-72 & Kohler Road, Barton City, MI 48705, Phone: (989) 739-0728. A back-country recreation experience within a working forest environment. Once part of a northern Michigan farm, this 3,000 acre tract includes forested uplands, swamp hardwoods, beaver impoundments, marsh and open lake areas. Wildlife abounds including deer, turkey, beaver, birds and fish. Six miles of gently rolling trail will lead you around Reid Lake. Can be used for skiing in winter.  Fact Sheet  Map
